Patient presentation and recorded decisions

Assessment & Treatment Planning

Patient goal: Lower and soften the frontal hairline while improving visible coverage through the temporal regions and creating an anterior frame aligned with the patient's facial proportions and treatment goals.

Assessment context: High frontal hairline recession, temporal thinning and diffuse loss of visible density along the anterior margin.

Planning rationale: DHI was selected to support controlled graft placement between existing hairs across the frontal and temporal recipient zones without requiring full recipient-area shaving. Planning focused on implantation angle, depth, direction and distribution in relation to the patient's Afro-textured hair characteristics and existing hair pattern.

Design notes: The frontal hairline was planned according to the patient's facial proportions and treatment goals, using a softly curved anterior design with subtle irregularity rather than a rigid linear border. The temporal transitions were planned to follow the natural direction and curl pattern of the patient's Afro-textured hair.

Recorded Procedure

Follicular units were harvested from the posterior scalp donor area using FUE-based extraction with planning adapted to Afro-textured follicular curvature. Grafts were implanted across the planned frontal and temporal recipient zones using a Choi implanter workflow, with placement adapted to the intended direction, angle and distribution and to the patient's existing hair pattern.

Clinical Interpretation

Documented Observation

The pre-treatment scalp record describes high frontal hairline recession, temporal thinning and diffuse loss of visible density along the anterior margin. The recorded treatment field was the frontal hairline, temporal corners and frontal scalp. The recorded procedure used 2,700 grafts. At 12 months, the clearest visual change is concentrated at the frontal hairline, with additional photographed change through the temporal corners and frontal scalp. The treatment did not target the crown, so these photographs should not be interpreted as evidence of crown restoration. Because tight curl can increase the apparent coverage seen in two-dimensional photographs, the images are a visual record of this patient's result rather than a direct measure of density. This is the documented result of one patient and does not predict another patient's outcome.
