01 · Core questions

Hair Transplant Basics

Permanent · Longevity · Safety · Pain · Duration · Grafts · Candidacy
Is a hair transplant permanent?

Transplanted follicles taken from a suitable donor area are generally expected to retain important donor characteristics long term. Non-transplanted native hair can continue to thin, so the overall appearance may change over time.

How long do hair transplants last?

Transplanted hair is generally intended to be long-lasting because suitable donor follicles tend to retain their donor characteristics after transplantation. Native non-transplanted hair can continue to thin, so the overall appearance may still change over time. View Documented Results

Is a hair transplant safe?

Hair transplantation can be performed safely in appropriately selected patients when it takes place in a suitable medical setting with qualified professionals and appropriate clinical protocols. It is still surgery and carries potential risks. Suitability, medical assessment, clinical standards, donor planning and postoperative care all affect the individual risk profile. Review Henesis Medical Standards

Does a hair transplant hurt?

A hair transplant is usually performed under local anaesthesia, which reduces procedural pain, although the anaesthetic injections can cause brief discomfort. Pressure, touch or movement may still be felt, and individual experience varies. Pain & Anaesthesia Guide

How long does a hair transplant take?

Most procedures take several hours and may occupy much of the treatment day. Duration depends on graft requirement, donor access, recipient area and workflow. Procedure Duration

How many grafts do I need?

There is no universal graft number. Treatment area, donor capacity, hair calibre, existing hair and long-term planning determine the estimate. Graft Planning & Cost

Can everyone have a hair transplant?

No. A transplant requires a suitable donor area, a transplantable pattern of hair loss, realistic expectations and medical suitability. Individual assessment should come before a technique or graft recommendation.

02 · Methods and workflows

FUE, Sapphire FUE & DHI

Extraction · Recipient channels · Implanter placement
What is FUE?

FUE describes individual follicular-unit extraction from the donor area. Recipient planning and placement still require separate decisions. FUE Guide

What is Sapphire FUE?

Sapphire FUE generally combines FUE donor extraction with sapphire-blade recipient-channel creation. Sapphire describes the recipient-site instrument, not a different donor-extraction method. Sapphire FUE Explained

What is DHI?

DHI commonly describes an implanter-assisted recipient-placement workflow and usually still follows individual FUE-based donor extraction. The label does not by itself describe every stage of the procedure. DHI Workflow Guide

Is DHI better than FUE?

Not universally. FUE primarily describes donor extraction, while DHI describes a recipient-placement workflow; suitability depends on the complete treatment plan. DHI vs FUE

03 · International treatment

Turkey & Henesis

Travel · Istanbul stay · Clinical responsibility · Assessment · Inclusions
Why do patients travel to Turkey for hair transplants?

Common reasons include lower advertised prices, a concentration of hair-restoration providers and established international-patient infrastructure. Country choice does not replace careful clinic and physician selection.

What should I ask before choosing a hair transplant clinic?

Ask who the responsible physician is, who performs each procedural stage, how donor capacity is planned, whether comparable documented results can be reviewed, what is included or excluded, and what follow-up is provided. Review Henesis Medical Standards

How long should I stay in Istanbul?

Henesis’ standard pathway is generally planned around arrival and rest on day 1, consultation and procedure on day 2, and the first clinic wash on the morning of day 3 before departure planning. Follow the confirmed itinerary for your case. View the 3-Day Journey

Who performs my procedure?

Henesis follows a physician-led treatment model. The doctor performs medical assessment, donor evaluation, treatment planning, hairline design and recipient-site creation; an anaesthesiologist provides anaesthesia; trained technicians assist with graft extraction and placement under doctor supervision; and the doctor completes the final clinical review.

Do I need an assessment before booking?

Yes. Clear photos and relevant medical information help determine suitability, treatment scope and estimated graft need before final planning. The assessment does not replace the in-person clinical review.

What is included in Henesis pricing?

Henesis scalp plans include the confirmed treatment scope, aftercare kit, first clinic wash, washing guidance and structured follow-up. Hotel, transfer and other travel-service inclusions vary by selected plan. See the current Cost & Packages comparison

Written Re-Treatment Guarantee

Eligible scalp, beard and Afro-textured hair-transplant cases may qualify for corrective treatment without a new procedure fee.

04 · Confirmed pricing answers

Hair Transplant Cost

Scalp plans · Price factors · Billing · Surcharges · Beard pricing
How much does a hair transplant cost at Henesis?

Henesis scalp hair-transplant plans currently range from $3,190 to $5,450, depending on treatment scope and plan. The final quotation is confirmed after individual assessment. See Henesis Plans & Prices

What affects hair transplant price?

Graft requirement, treatment area, workflow, package scope and case complexity can affect the applicable plan and final quotation. The written assessment should explain the selected scope. Review Pricing Factors

Is hair transplant priced per graft?

Henesis uses fixed treatment-plan pricing rather than a simple per-graft multiplication model. Graft requirement still affects clinical planning and may affect treatment scope. Fixed vs Per-Graft Pricing

Are there hidden costs?

The written quotation should identify the treatment, included services and exclusions before booking. Patients should verify travel, hotel, transfers, medicines, optional services and extra nights against the selected plan. Hidden-Cost Checklist

Does Afro hair cost more?

Henesis does not apply an automatic surcharge solely because hair is Afro-textured. Final pricing follows the assessed scalp treatment scope and selected plan. Afro Hair Transplant Guide

Does HIV status cost more?

Henesis does not increase the hair-transplant treatment price solely because a patient is living with HIV. The applicable treatment price follows the assessed scalp plan, and any separately required medical services are explained before treatment. HIV Hair Transplant Guide

How much does a beard transplant cost?

Henesis beard transplant plans range from $2,233 to $3,815. Final pricing depends on facial treatment zones, graft requirement, donor work, recipient workflow and package scope. Beard Pricing

05 · Preparation

Before the Procedure

Alcohol · Medication · Smoking and nicotine · Clean scalp
Can I drink alcohol before a hair transplant?

Avoid alcohol for the pre-procedure interval supplied by the clinical team. The exact interval should follow your confirmed Henesis instructions. Alcohol Before Treatment

Should I stop my medications?

Never stop prescribed medication solely because of generic online advice. Share all medicines and supplements so the physician can confirm whether anything should continue, change or pause. Medication Safety Guide

Can I smoke before treatment?

Tell the team about cigarettes, vaping and other nicotine use. Smoking and nicotine can affect tissue blood flow and healing, so follow the confirmed abstinence period. Smoking & Nicotine Guidance

Should I wash my hair before the procedure?

Arrive with a clean scalp and without styling products unless your written instructions say otherwise. Do not scrub aggressively or use a new medicated scalp product immediately before treatment. Pre-Procedure Hair Washing

06 · Early healing

Recovery & Aftercare

Graft security · Swelling · Shock loss · Exercise
When are hair grafts secure?

Anchoring strengthens progressively during early healing. A small 42-patient study found no tested graft dislodgement at day 9, but this should not be treated as a universal “safe to touch” deadline. Graft Security Guide

Is swelling normal?

Some forehead or facial swelling can occur during the early days and varies between patients. Rapidly worsening, unusually severe or otherwise concerning swelling should be discussed with the clinic. Swelling Guidance

What is shock loss?

Shock loss is postoperative shedding that can affect some surrounding native hair and, in some cases, donor-area hair. Its course and recovery vary between individuals. Shedding & Shock Loss

When can I exercise?

Exercise returns in stages according to healing and the written aftercare plan. Sweating, friction, strain and accidental impact all affect the restriction period. Exercise After Treatment

07 · First clinic wash

Hair Washing

First wash · Recipient care · Shampoo · Crust management
When is the first wash after a hair transplant?

At Henesis, the first wash is performed by the clinical team on the morning after the procedure, before departure. The team demonstrates the approved technique and supplies the aftercare products for continued home washing. First Hair Wash Guide

Can I wash the transplanted area normally?

Not immediately. Early washing uses gentle product application, controlled water flow and minimal recipient-area friction. Recipient-Area Washing Guide

What shampoo should I use?

During early healing, use the shampoo supplied or approved for your postoperative plan rather than introducing a strong or medicated product independently. Shampoo Guidance

Can I remove scabs while washing?

Do not pick or force crusts away. Approved washing progressively softens them, and direct contact should increase only according to the supplied healing-stage instructions. Crust-Management Guidance

08 · Growth and maturation

Hair Transplant Results

Shedding · Visible growth · Maturation · Individual variation
When will transplanted hair start growing?

Visible growth usually develops gradually over the following months rather than immediately after surgery. Early shedding and limited visible growth can occur before development becomes easier to see. Recovery & Growth Timeline

When is the final result visible?

Many hair-transplant results are commonly assessed around 12 months, although maturation may continue longer and different treatment areas can progress at different rates. Compare standardized photographs rather than relying on day-to-day perception. View Documented Results

Will transplanted hair shed before it grows?

Early shedding of transplanted hair shafts can occur before later visible growth. Shedding does not automatically mean the follicles have been lost. Shedding & Shock Loss

Why do results differ between patients?

Donor capacity, hair calibre, curl pattern, recipient area, native-hair progression, healing and treatment planning can all influence the visual result. Review Documented Results
