Patient presentation and recorded decisions

Assessment & Treatment Planning

Patient goal: Improve visible coverage across the cheeks and create a more defined jawline and sideburn outline while maintaining a balanced relationship with the patient's existing facial hair.

Assessment context: Patchy cheek coverage, irregular density along the lower jawline and a weak connection to the sideburns.

Planning rationale: DHI was selected to support controlled graft placement across the cheek and jawline recipient areas. Planning focused on implantation angle, depth and direction when working with curved Afro-textured follicles and the patient's existing facial-hair pattern.

Design notes: The upper cheek line was planned to follow the patient's facial structure, with graft distribution designed to reinforce the lower jawline and create a gradual connection toward the sideburns and existing chin beard.

Recorded Procedure

Follicular units were harvested from the posterior scalp donor area using FUE extraction. Grafts were implanted across the planned beard recipient areas using a Choi implanter workflow, with placement adapted to the natural direction, angle and distribution of the patient's facial-hair growth pattern.

Clinical Interpretation

Documented Observation

The pre-treatment facial-hair record describes patchy cheek coverage, irregular density along the lower jawline and a weak connection to the sideburns. The recorded treatment field was the cheeks, jawline and sideburns. The recorded procedure used 2,000 grafts. At 12 months, the principal visual change is concentrated along the cheeks and jawline. The photographs document this patient's facial-hair distribution in the treated zones and should not be read as a measure of graft survival or as a scalp result. Because tight curl can increase the apparent coverage seen in two-dimensional photographs, the images are a visual record of this patient's result rather than a direct measure of density. This is the documented result of one patient and does not predict another patient's outcome.
