Patient presentation and recorded decisions

Assessment & Treatment Planning

Patient goal: Improve visible beard coverage across patchy cheek areas, refine the jawline frame and create greater continuity between existing facial-hair regions.

Assessment context: Patchy cheek density, sparse jawline coverage and reduced continuity along the lateral facial-hair margins.

Planning rationale: DHI was selected to support controlled graft placement across the cheek, jawline and beard connection areas without a separate recipient-site creation stage. Planning focused on shallow implantation angles, direction, depth and distribution in relation to the patient's existing facial-hair growth pattern.

Design notes: The cheek boundaries and lower jawline contours were planned according to the patient's facial proportions and existing beard pattern. Single-hair follicular units were prioritized along selected upper transition areas to support a softer visual border.

Recorded Procedure

Follicular units were harvested from the posterior scalp using FUE-based extraction. Selected single-hair and appropriate follicular units were implanted across the planned cheek, jawline and beard connection zones using a Choi implanter workflow, with placement adapted to the direction, angle and distribution of the patient's existing facial hair.

Clinical Interpretation

Documented Observation

The pre-treatment facial-hair record describes patchy cheek density, sparse jawline coverage and reduced continuity along the lateral facial-hair margins. The recorded treatment field was the cheeks and jawline. The recorded procedure used 2,150 grafts. At 12 months, the principal visual change is concentrated along the cheeks and jawline. The photographs document this patient's facial-hair distribution in the treated zones and should not be read as a measure of graft survival or as a scalp result. In the follow-up views, the transplanted areas appear visually continuous with the patient's existing wavy hair pattern. This is the documented result of one patient and does not predict another patient's outcome.
