Patient presentation and recorded decisions

Assessment & Treatment Planning

Patient goal: Improve visible beard density across the cheeks and lower jaw while creating a more defined beard line that remains proportionate to the patient's facial structure.

Assessment context: Sparse cheek density, patchy gaps along the jawline and a weak connection between the sideburns and upper cheek line.

Planning rationale: DHI was selected to support controlled implantation angle, depth and direction when placing curved Afro-textured follicles in the beard recipient area. Planning focused on cheek density, jawline continuity and the connection between the sideburn and upper cheek regions.

Design notes: The upper cheek borders were planned to follow the patient's facial geometry, with graft distribution designed to connect smoothly from the sideburn region toward the cheek, jawline, chin and mustache transition areas.

Recorded Procedure

Follicular units were harvested from the posterior scalp donor area using FUE extraction. Grafts were implanted using a Choi implanter workflow, with placement adapted to the natural curl pattern, exit angle and direction of the patient's facial-hair growth.

Clinical Interpretation

Documented Observation

The pre-treatment facial-hair record describes sparse cheek density, patchy gaps along the jawline and a weak connection between the sideburns and upper cheek line. The recorded treatment field was the cheeks, jawline, submandibular area and mustache. The recorded procedure used 2,300 grafts. At 12 months, the principal visual change is concentrated along the cheeks and jawline. The photographs document this patient's facial-hair distribution in the treated zones and should not be read as a measure of graft survival or as a scalp result. Because tight curl can increase the apparent coverage seen in two-dimensional photographs, the images are a visual record of this patient's result rather than a direct measure of density. This is the documented result of one patient and does not predict another patient's outcome.
