Patient presentation and recorded decisions

Assessment & Treatment Planning

Patient goal: Improve visible beard coverage across the cheeks and establish a more continuous jawline and sideburn outline while maintaining facial balance.

Assessment context: Sparse cheek coverage, a weak connection along the sideburns and patchy density across the mid-cheek region.

Planning rationale: FUE-based extraction and recipient-site creation were selected to support individual follicular-unit harvesting and controlled channel direction when working with curved Afro-textured follicles. Planning focused on placement depth, direction and distribution across the cheek and jawline recipient areas.

Design notes: The cheek lines were planned slightly higher to connect smoothly toward the temporal and sideburn regions, with graft distribution designed to create clearer structural definition while remaining aligned with the patient's facial proportions.

Recorded Procedure

Follicular units were harvested from the posterior scalp donor area using FUE-based extraction with planning adapted to Afro-textured follicular curvature. Recipient sites were created according to the intended acute facial-hair direction and angle, followed by graft placement according to the treatment design.

Clinical Interpretation

Documented Observation

The pre-treatment facial-hair record describes sparse cheek coverage, a weak connection along the sideburns and patchy density across the mid-cheek region. The recorded treatment field was the cheeks, jawline, chin and sideburns. The recorded procedure used 2,250 grafts. At 12 months, the principal visual change is concentrated along the cheeks and jawline. The photographs document this patient's facial-hair distribution in the treated zones and should not be read as a measure of graft survival or as a scalp result. Because tight curl can increase the apparent coverage seen in two-dimensional photographs, the images are a visual record of this patient's result rather than a direct measure of density. This is the documented result of one patient and does not predict another patient's outcome.
